Danger of Death Penalty
In my opinion, death penalty must be abolished by 3 reasons.
First reason is possibility of misjudgement. Even in United States, which is accepted with the strongest criminal investigation technology, we can find some example about possibility of affecting unfair victim by misjudgement. For Example, Troy Davis case, which is case that Troy Davis is executed by murder police officer in USA, 2011, is big controversy still. We should not eliminate possibility of existence of condemned criminal who wait death by misjudgement, because there are many case that is exculpated after punishment not only condemned criminal but also another criminals.
Second reason is that criteria of subject of application is vague. If we must sentence of death to felon, what is criteria of 'felon'? Person who kill the other directly or indirectly? Person who kill one person or more than two person? Economic offense who not kill the other but make many office worker to suicide? Person who stage a coup to overset democracy? Like these, it is not easy to define criteria of 'felon' in society which has diverse opinion. Even though we define the criteria, there can be person who raise a question about the criteria, and judgement that whether suspect is satisfied criteria or not could have supervision of judge.
Last reason is possibility of abuse. If corrupt and violent government appears in several years after death penalty is made legal, we cannot say that there is zero possibility to applying the criteria by establishment as they want and people who is not guilty have died legitimately. There is possibility to some people are executed by reason of treason. Representative example is Inhyeokdang case, which is case that 8 person who were not guilty are died in Korea, 1975, enough say about possibility of abuse of death penalty. However, if we abolish death penalty, we can save their life fist, and they can released from factitious sin after upright government is appeared.
Above all reasons, I think death penalty must be abolished because of possibility of misjudgement and abuse, and vague application criteria.

답글삭제I agree with your opinion on abolition of capital punishment. Especially, I agree for the first reason. There is always the possibility of misjudgement. Have you seen the movie 'Miracle in Cell No. 7'? Case of unfair victim by misjudgement is in this movie. If you have not seen the movie, I recommend watching it.

I am shocked whenever I view a photo taken when teenagers are drinking alcohol on SNS. They really seemed not to feel that it is illegal and incorrect. While cigarette advertisements are not allowed in TV, how are alcohol advertisements allowed in TV? The cigarette advertisements mention not that you’d better stop smoking for you and surrounders but that you may as well smoke. Drinking culture of adults is even beautified in it. 답글삭제I once had a debate related to death penalty. Trust me, it was very tough since there seemed to be no definite judgment. Personally, I liked the way how you threw questions about the standardized criteria for criminals who deserve a punishment as much as so death. I figured out that a country’s culture and value play a huge role in deciding such law. Overall, I enjoyed reading yours and was able to reflect on the negative effects-invisible yet existing everywhere- of death penalty.
